Response to CBI Article

I thought the article reinforced what I had learned in prior experiences; the more the student is involved in the learning process the more information is retained.  What I found interesting was that students who applied the information in their own words retained more of the content than simply answering question about the content.  Drills and repetitive actions do not seem to be as effective asking the student to explain aloud (or key) the new information and how it relates to prior information.   

Several concepts will be helpful in generating an effective CBI application.  For example, visual information should be presented simultaneously with auditory information.  An effort to ask the student to apply the knowledge in some coherent manner will likely produce better results.   In addition, introducing each new section with deep-level questions will stimulate the student in the learning of the material.
